Golden Jubilee Year of Maldives Tourism 2022

The year 2022 will mark the 50th anniversary for Maldives tourism industry. In order to celebrate this, Ministry of Tourism has begun the countdown for the “Golden Jubilee Year of Maldives Tourism 2022”. The countdown commenced on 1st January 2021.

The countdown which takes place on the Ministry’s social media accounts, will feature video messages by senior industry stakeholders, the people in the industry and other relevant parties. These messages will be featured throughout the year from 1st January 2021 31st December 2021.

“Golden Jubilee Year of Maldives Tourism 2022” was kicked off with a video message from George Corbin, who was among the first tourists to visit Maldives and who also played a vital role in the inception of tourism in Maldives.

Tourism Ministry is in discussion with the industry stakeholders to plan the activities for a grand celebration of the Golden Jubilee Year of Maldives Tourism 2022.

The Maldives is an archipelago of 1,192 coral islands grouped into 26 natural coral atolls in the Indian ocean. Coral islands measure not more than 1.8 meters above sea level. The Maldives are one of the most geographically dispersed as well as the smallest country in Asia.
